Green tea has antioxidant, antibacterial and antiviral properties

9/1/2020

Green tea is a perfect adjunct to healing herbs. Although you would not be growing it in an Irish herb garden it can be introduced easily into our daily routine.

Both green and black tea come from the same plant called the Camellia Sinensis bush. It is the processing of the tea leaves which will determine whether it is green or black tea. Green tea is made from tea leaves which are steamed first and dried soon after they are harvested.

Green tea still contains the compounds that have antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral and health enhancing properties. These compounds can penetrate the cells of the body and then protect them from the free radicals.

Research has shown that green tea can protect against cancer, lower cholesterol levels and reduce the clotting tendency of the blood thus reducing the risk of forming atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and suffering from a stroke.

It shows great promise as an aid to weight loss as it can promote the burning of fat and helps to regulate the blood sugar and insulin levels.

Green tea also stimulates the immune system, fights tooth decay, combats mental fatigue and is good for asthma suffers. It may also help prevent enlarged prostate.

Haemorrhoids are swollen veins of the lower rectal area, usually resulting from pressure. They can be external or internal. They can result in pain, itching, irritation and bleeding. It can be difficult to find a comfortable position to sit. It is quite a common condition, over 4% of the population in the western world suffer with it. It is most common in both men and women aged between 45 and 65. In severe cases, they may get thrombosed which can be very painful, it is always advisable to go and see your GP.

Here are some of the causes:

Why am I so tired?

18/10/2019

Most of us have suffered from colds, flu’s, painful conditions, injuries etc in our life which keeps us awake at night or give us a restless sleep which can result in feeling tired the next day, but at least in those cases we know the reason. Some people are suffering from constant tiredness, lack of energy and fatigue and they do not know why. If you think you are one of these people my advice is to go and see your GP.

There are several causes of tiredness some are physical and some physiological. Psychological tiredness is much more prevalent than physical the big one is stress and anxiety which can lead to sleep disturbance and in turn you feel exhausted all day.

Depression is a very common condition; it can go undiagnosed for a long time. Symptoms can vary usually people find it difficult to go to sleep, early morning wakening, feeling sad and down, it can affect you appetite resulting in weight loss or weight gain, inability to cope with your daily activities, feeling exhausted all day. Your doctor can help you turn things around and may refer you to a specialist.

Allergies such as asthma, hay fever, allergic rhinitis. Food allergies or food intolerance can also be contributing to your tiredness. Usually your GP can help you diagnose your allergies.
Anaemia is a very common condition and frequent cause of tiredness especially in women with heavy periods, uterine polyps, fibroids and haemorrhoids. Although more women suffer from this condition the incidence in men could be as high as one in twenty. Other causes of anaemia can be stomach ulcers, long term use of anti inflammations which can lead to bleeding. Anaemia can also occur if you are suffering from a chronic illness like diabetes, kidney disease or b12 deficiency.

Always consult your G.P. before starting any new regime or self treatment. The contents of the article are for informational purposes only and are not intended to prevent, diagnose or cure any medical conditions.

Common medical conditions frequently found in men  (sometimes with serious consequences)

8/9/2019

Some diseases more commonly found in men and why prevention is the key in saving lives:

1. PROSTATE CANCER – If you are a man you are more likely to be diagnosed with nearly every cancer except breast cancer. If prostate cancer is caught early it is usually easier to treat. Hence recommended visits to the doctor and screening can be a life saver.
2. LIVER CIRRHOSIS – Men are more frequently sufferers of this illness either due to heavy drinking, lifestyle choices or infections.
3. HEART DISEASE – Men and women both suffer from this condition but as men suffer more from obesity it can contribute to the diagnosis.
4. PARKINSONS – Some scientists and doctors believe that men are more susceptible to this disease due to their genes.
5. MELANOMA (SKIN CANCER) – Men are twice as likely to suffer from this condition after the age of 65 and it increases further with age.
6. OTHER CANCERS – which commonly occur in men are (a) Lung Cancer (b) Colon Cancer (c) Leukaemia (d) Pancreatic Cancer (e) Kidney Cancer (f) Bladder Cancer
7. HIV – More than 75% of HIV diagnosed patients are men.
8. GOUT – is a type of Arthritis caused by a high concentration of uric acid in the blood and a high number of men are diagnosed.
9. AUTISM – Scientists don’t know why this condition occurs more in men than women but they feel that genetics may play some role.
10.CHRONIC STRESS/ADDICTION AND SUICIDE
11. OBESITY AND TYPE 2 DIABETES
12. ACCIDENTS/INJURY/DISABILITY
In our clinic I find two complementary therapies very beneficial in preventing and treating some of the above diseases are Gut Health And Microbiome Restoration and Lifestyle Medicine.

To discuss conditions treated and therapies offered at our clinic, contact Dr. Bhatti at (087) 1915051 or email health@drbhatti.ie.   During your first office visit, Dr. Bhatti may ask you at length about your health-condition, lifestyle and behaviour.  Please consult your GP before starting new treatment.

Physiological Regulating Medicine - An evidence based therapy with excellent results

11/7/2019

PHYSIOLOGICAL REGULATING MEDICINE is based on a revolutionary idea in the medical field. It restores the initial physiological condition of a sick body by using the similar biological molecules that are usually present in the body and which control and guide its function to a healthy condition.

These molecules include:

  • Hormones (Endocrine system)
  • Cytokines (immune system messengers)
  • Growth factors which are essential tissue regulating and stimulating molecules.

It has been acknowledged that these substances play a decisive role in determining whether our body is in a healthy or diseased state. At present a lot of international medical research is focusing on the study of messenger molecules, the positive (causes healing) and negative (causes disease). These remedies can play a great role in boosting immunity, reducing inflammation and pain. They can also help prevent and calm allergic reactions.

**Every disease is an expression and consequence of changes in the messenger molecule and its concentration, either there is an increase or a reduction of these concentrations according to studies**

In the Holistic Health Clinic, Dr. Bhatti uses a multi pronged approach in treating this and many other conditions with evidence based therapies such as Micro-immunotherapy, Physiological Regulating Medicine (P.R.M), Gut Health and Microbiome restoration, Nutritional and Nutraceutical therapies, Lifestyle Medicine, Natural Hormonal Balancing, Glandular support, Soft tissue and joint support, Complex Homeopathy, Herbals, and Needle free Medical Acupuncture, Therapeautic Mindfulness and CBT techniques to achieve excellent results.

Hay fever and low-dose-medicine - a new and natural approach

4/6/2019

Hay fever (acute seasonal allergic rhinitis) is the most common type of allergy. Symptoms include itchy red eyes also known as allergic conjunctivitis, watery discharge from the nose and eyes, sneezing, fatigue, headache and nervous irritability. It can mimic the symptoms of common cold and affects 30% of the population worldwide. Post nasal drip of mucus can lead to a cough, and nose bleed in severe cases. Tree and grass pollen is the usual cause of hay fever in spring and summer-time but perennial allergic rhinitis can be caused by some or all of the following: animal hair, dust, feathers, fungus, spores and moulds the symptoms of which can stay with you in any part of the year. Some of us are born to be allergic from birth it occurs in both males and females and anywhere in the world, hay fever is not contagious.

More than half of hay fever suffers complain of being tired, run down, irritable and find it hard to stay focused which in turn can sometimes lead to sick days and time off work. The sale of antihistamines goes up considerably higher in this season, your doctor may prescribe some nasal sprays or send you to a specialist for further investigations and treatment.

The best defence is to avoid contact with the allergens however this is not always possible. The use of dust mite covers on your mattress, pillows and duvet can help. Avoid cigarette smoke and using perfumed cosmetics and sprays. You can make your body better able to cope with the allergen, by removing the substances in your diet that are putting your immune system under strain. Some of the substances best avoided include: alcohol, coffee, food additives, colourings and preservatives, junk food, white flour and its products such as cakes, pastries, biscuits and buns.

Eat a well-balanced whole food diet rich in fruit and vegetables, whole grains such as brown rice, raw nuts and seeds. Foods that are rich in magnesium are thought to help prevent and reduce symptoms of hay fever. These include; bananas, kidney beans, soy beans, lima beans, almonds, whole-wheat flour, brown rice, molasses and peas.

Medical needle free acupuncture and laser acupuncture can work well for allergies. We also use a combination of therapies such as Gut Health and Microbiome Restoration, Micro-immunotherapy, Nutritional therapy, lifestyle medicine, herbals and homeopathy to help boost overall health and Mindfulness and CBT techniques among other therapies to help stress, anxiety and irritability related to all types allergies and intolerances.

What is causing my phelgm/mucus? Can Physiological Regulating Medicine help?

14/12/2018

Mucus is normal and forms a lining inside the lungs of a healthy person and helps keep our lungs from drying out and it also forms a barrier against bacteria and viruses.

All healthy bodies require mucus in the lungs and other parts of our bodies but too much of it can lead to uncomfortable symptoms.

Here are only some of the causes of phlegm/extra mucus:
  • Allergies (Hay fever, Asthma, Food Allergies etc )
  • Colds/Flu’s/Sinusitis
  • Tobacco (smoke), air pollution
  • Lung disease e.g. infections such as pneumonia
  • Lung Cancer
  • Hiatus Hernia
  • Acid Reflux
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Cystic Fibrosis etc.

Always consult your Doctor first for any medical advice and to rule out any serious illness. Once the cause is identified and is not serious, complementary therapies can help a lot. Dr Bhatti has been treating allergies/intolerances for the last 30 years.

In our clinic we use a multi pronged approach in treating this and many other conditions with evidence based therapies such as Physiological Regulating Medicine (P.R.M), gut health and microbiome restoration, nutritional and nutraceutical therapies, lifestyle medicine, natural hormonal balancing, glandular support, soft tissue and joint support, complex homeopathy, herbals, needle free mesotherapy and needle free acupuncture to achieve excellent results.

Dr Bhatti, I have been sleeping very badly for up to three months, any advice?

2/12/2018

More women suffer from insomnia than men and incidences increase dramatically in 65 year-olds and over. Most people at some stage have experienced disrupted sleep patterns due to either external factors or some kind of stress/upset, such as bereavement or financial strains. Insomnia, however, is defined by an individual having problems falling asleep, maintaining sleep or experiencing non-restorative sleep on a regular or frequent basis. Pain is one of the most common causes of insomnia.

Caffeine, alcohol and stimulants such as nicotine contribute to sleep disturbance. Health conditions that often lead to insomnia include: hyper-thyroidism, painful conditions, muscular or otherwise, digestive disorders such as reflux, hiatus hernia, stomach ulcers, irritable bowel, nocturnal asthma, heart failure, blocked nose, sinus problems, restless leg syndrome, stress, anxiety and depression. Consult your GP first if you suffer from any of the above or for any medical advice.

If you are suffering with insomnia, do not nap in the day and go to bed as soon as you feel tired. Eat an evening meal high in complex carbohydrates, e.g. boiled rice and avoid heavy meals and sugary foods in the evening as they either stimulate the system or are hard to digest.

One of the most successful complementary approaches to insomnia is acupuncture. In our clinic we offer evidence based therapies such as Needle free laser Acupuncture which can work on balancing the neurological, emotional, muscular and energetic systems.Mindfulness, Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, and Yoga can also assist sleep. Complex Homeopathy, Herbs and Physiological Regulating Medicine(P.R.M) can be of great help and gives excellent results.

In our clinic we use a multi pronged approach in treating this and many other conditions with evidence based therapies such as Low Dose Medicine (L.D.M,), gut health and microbiome restoration, nutritional and nutraceutical therapies, lifestyle medicine, natural hormonal balancing, glandular support, soft tissue and joint support, complex homeopathy, herbals, needle free mesotherapy and needle free acupuncture to achieve excellent results.
