Micro-immunotherapy and some of its applications

20/12/2019

Micro-immunotherapy is an immune modulation therapy that uses the same messengers as the immune system such as cytokines, hormones, growth factors, nucleic acids and specific nucleic acids to transmit information to the body and readjust the immune response.

In other words the objective of Micro-immunotherapy is to restore the correct communication between the immune system cells to help them recover their innate capacity to defend against aggressors or to limit the response when aggravated.

In contrast to classical Immunotherapy, Micro-immunotherapy formulas use a broad range of immune substances (so called messengers). These are prepared in low concentrations (low doses) through a process of dilution dynamisation, and guaranteeing high tolerance.

Furthermore, depending on whether stimulation, modulation or inhibition of the organism is desired, the levels of concentrations used can vary within the same formula. Just as it occurs naturally in the body, the substances are administered by following a specific sequence and a precise order.

So Micro-immunotherapy can be a loyal ally in the treatment of diseases resulting from an imbalance of the immune system, both acute and chronic infections, inflammatory or auto-immune diseases.

Micro-immunotherapy does not replace the immune system and neither forces it nor blocks it, but rather it informs immunity subtly, therefore making it compatible with other treatments.

Micro-immunotherapy is an ally for the immune system. There are international doctors’ associations committed to Micro-immunotherapy training for healthcare professionals. With the help of Serology and other blood tests, the progress of Micro-immunotherapy treatment can be monitored.

Dr Bhatti is the first doctor to practise Micro-immunotherapy in Ireland.

At the Holistic Health Clinic, Dr. Bhatti uses a multi pronged approach in treating this and many other conditions with evidence based therapies such as Micro-immunotherapy, Physiological Regulating Medicine (P.R.M), Gut Health and Microbiome restoration, Nutritional and Nutraceutical therapies, Lifestyle Medicine, Natural Hormonal Balancing, Glandular support, Soft tissue and joint support, Complex Homeopathy, Herbals, and Needle free Medical Acupuncture, Therapeautic Mindfulness and CBT techniques to achieve excellent results.

To discuss conditions treated and therapies offered at our clinic, contact Dr. Bhatti at (087) 1915051 or email health@drbhatti.ie.   During your first office visit, Dr. Bhatti may ask you at length about your health-condition, lifestyle and behaviour.  Please consult your GP before starting new treatment.

Winter blues (S.A.D) and Physiological Regulating Medicine (P.R.M)

17/12/2019

The onset of winter will see most of us feeling a little blue. The reduction in day light hours can make you feel less active and more tired, and many of us will have a tendency to eat more. For some, however, this natural loss of energy and enthusiasm with the change of season is far too strong. When this happens you may be suffering from Seasonal Affected Disorder (S.A.D) or the winter blues.

S.A.D is a recognised form of depression that develops in the winter months and usually disappears in the spring and summer, but some scientists disagree. It is a condition that may display similar symptoms to depression. If you experience a noticeable alteration in your mood, behaviour and sleep with the transition of season from summer to autumn then you might be suffering from S.A.D. You don't have to feel this way as help is available.

Some people may cut themselves off from family and friends, feel irritable and also experience a loss of libido. Generally life becomes a task and for some it can become unbearable with feelings of low self- esteem and guilt. If you are experiencing any of these feelings and symptoms then it is important that you should consult your general practitioner first for medical advice.

Because many S.A.D. sufferers have been helped by light therapy it is suggested that the primary reason for S.A.D. symptoms is the lack of adequate light in the dark winter months. One should try and go outside for about one and two hours every day and try and avoid using sunglasses. Dr Bhatti believes Improving nutrition and gut health can play a vital in the recovery along with other measures such as seeking psychological support during the darker months of the year.

Dr Bhatti has been treating S.A.D for more than 25 years with Complementary Therapies available in his clinic such as Needle free Acupuncture, Low Dose Medicine (L.D.M), Lifestyle Medicine, Herbals, Mindfulness, CBT and Natural restoration of Gut health and Microbiome, Natural Hormonal and Glandular support and Physiological Regulating Medicine(P.R.M).

Common symptoms of S.A.D. can be lack of initiative, lack of concentration, weight gain, food cravings, loss of appetite, indigestion, mood swings, irritability, anger, loss of libido, intense fatigue, feeling guilty and worthless, brain fog, lack of adequate sleep and early morning wakening etc.

Read more on related conditions.

Cold and Flu season is here - it is good to have your immune system in peak condition

10/12/2019

With the change in season it is a good time to be thinking about boosting your immunity. Vulnerable people such as children and the elderly, people with low immunity and other susceptible people including asthmatics or people with chronic sinusitis and chronic obstructive airway diseases (COAD) need to pay particular attention to their immunity.

Within thirty minutes of consuming sugar your immune system may be suppressed for several hours. Research shows that after two hours of eating the sugary food your white cell count could be reduced. All processed and fast foods are extremely high in sugar, salt and fat. The intake of such food products should be significantly reduced or avoided completely, if your immune system is to thrive.

Immune deficiency can occur due to several reasons especially if your organs are involved such as spleen, tonsillitis, bone marrow and lymph nodes as these organs release lymphocytes these cell are the ones which fight the invading bacteria and virus parasites. Your immune system is also affected if you suffer from other diseases such as HIV, Sickle cell anaemia, Cirrhosis of the liver etc.

By swapping sweets, bars, cakes, biscuits, pastries and buns with fresh fruit, natural yoghurt and cereals such as unsweetened muesli and porridge, you can significantly reduce your sugar intake. It is important to have three well balanced meals a day. These should include fish especially oily fish, nuts, seeds, grains and other foods that are high in fibre. Lean white meats are better than red and fatty meats. Other sustaining foods are wholemeal breads made with spelt, wheat or rye flour, brown rice, wholemeal pasta and potatoes with the skins on, if not sprayed with chemicals.

You should drink about two and a half litres of fluid per day, water being the best choice. Avoid all sugary drinks and foods as well as those containing artificial sweeteners. Keep fruit juice made from concentrate to one or two glasses per day and dilute it with water. It has high sugar content in the natural form of fructose. The best drinks are water, green tea, herbal teas and freshly made fruit and vegetable juice. (Carrot, apple juice, elderberries and ginger are great immune boosters). In dark, cold winter days a chicken and vegetable stew with garlic, pinch of turmeric and fresh herbs sprinkled over it is a heart warming as well as immune boosting.

Be sure to get enough sleep, regular exercise, fresh air and sunlight. Mild regular exercise is important as well as keeping well wrapped up with proper clothing. Try to avoid sudden changes of temperature, going from hot to cold or vice versa which can be difficult when moving from overheated offices to outside.

Hay fever and low dose medicine (a new and natural approach)

6/12/2019

Hay fever (acute seasonal allergic rhinitis) is the most common type of allergy. Symptoms include itchy red eyes also known as allergic conjunctivitis, watery discharge from the nose and eyes, sneezing, fatigue, headache and nervous irritability. It can mimic the symptoms of common cold and affects 30% of the population worldwide. Post nasal drip of mucus can lead to a cough, and nose bleed in severe cases. Tree and grass pollen is the usual cause of hay fever in spring and summer-time but perennial allergic rhinitis can be caused by some or all of the following: animal hair, dust, feathers, fungus, spores and moulds the symptoms of which can stay with you in any part of the year. Some of us are born to be allergic from birth it occurs in both males and females and anywhere in the world, hay fever is not contagious.

More than half of hay fever suffers complain of being tired, run down, irritable and find it hard to stay focused which in turn can sometimes lead to sick days and time off work. The sale of antihistamines goes up considerably higher in this season, your doctor may prescribe some nasal sprays or send you to a specialist for further investigations and treatment.

The best defence is to avoid contact with the allergens however this is not always possible. The use of dust mite covers on your mattress, pillows and duvet can help. Avoid cigarette smoke and using perfumed cosmetics and sprays. You can make your body better able to cope with the allergen, by removing the substances in your diet that are putting your immune system under strain. Some of the substances best avoided include: alcohol, coffee, food additives, colourings and preservatives, junk food, white flour and its products such as cakes, pastries, biscuits and buns.

Eat a well-balanced whole food diet rich in fruit and vegetables, whole grains such as brown rice, raw nuts and seeds. Foods that are rich in magnesium are thought to help prevent and reduce symptoms of hay fever. These include; bananas, kidney beans, soy beans, lima beans, almonds, whole-wheat flour, brown rice, molasses and peas.

Medical needle free acupuncture and laser acupuncture can work well for allergies. We also use a combination of therapies such as Gut Health and Microbiome Restoration, Micro-immunotherapy, Nutritional therapy, lifestyle medicine, herbals and homeopathy to help boost overall health and Mindfulness and CBT techniques among other therapies to help stress, anxiety and irritability related to all types allergies and intolerances.

A new study finds that chronic stress may shrink your brain - but help is available

4/12/2019

A large Swedish study involving more than two thousand people, including both men and women, found a relationship between the high levels of cortisol (stress hormone) in the blood and the thinning of the brain.

The people with a higher level of cortisol also showed symptoms such as bad memory. This is not the only study which found chronic stress having the effect on the size of our brains, another study conducted in 2017 showed a similar effect related to chronic work stress and that it could be reversed by giving workers respite and with the help of cognitive therapy.

One theory why stress has become so toxic in recent times is lifestyle. In our clinic, Dr Bhatti has been practising Lifestyle Medicine for more than 25 years to help with emotional and physical stress and stress related disorders using a combination of Complementary Therapies with excellent results.
