Why am I so tired?

18/10/2019

Most of us have suffered from colds, flu’s, painful conditions, injuries etc in our life which keeps us awake at night or give us a restless sleep which can result in feeling tired the next day, but at least in those cases we know the reason. Some people are suffering from constant tiredness, lack of energy and fatigue and they do not know why. If you think you are one of these people my advice is to go and see your GP.

There are several causes of tiredness some are physical and some physiological. Psychological tiredness is much more prevalent than physical the big one is stress and anxiety which can lead to sleep disturbance and in turn you feel exhausted all day.

Depression is a very common condition; it can go undiagnosed for a long time. Symptoms can vary usually people find it difficult to go to sleep, early morning wakening, feeling sad and down, it can affect you appetite resulting in weight loss or weight gain, inability to cope with your daily activities, feeling exhausted all day. Your doctor can help you turn things around and may refer you to a specialist.

Allergies such as asthma, hay fever, allergic rhinitis. Food allergies or food intolerance can also be contributing to your tiredness. Usually your GP can help you diagnose your allergies.
Anaemia is a very common condition and frequent cause of tiredness especially in women with heavy periods, uterine polyps, fibroids and haemorrhoids. Although more women suffer from this condition the incidence in men could be as high as one in twenty. Other causes of anaemia can be stomach ulcers, long term use of anti inflammations which can lead to bleeding. Anaemia can also occur if you are suffering from a chronic illness like diabetes, kidney disease or b12 deficiency.

Always consult your G.P. before starting any new regime or self treatment. The contents of the article are for informational purposes only and are not intended to prevent, diagnose or cure any medical conditions.

More women suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome than men

10/10/2019

Irritable bowel syndrome is one of the most common disorders in Western cultures. Symptoms of this condition include abdominal pain or cramping and changes in bowel function including bloating, gas, alternating diarrhoea and constipation and mucus in stools. Severity of symptoms may vary considerably depending on lifestyle and diet. Pain can be acute, chronic, functional, organic or referred.

Unlike more serious intestinal diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease which cause inflammation or changes in bowel tissue or increase your risk of colorectal cancer IBS can (in many cases) be controlled by managing your diet, lifestyle, stress and gut health and microbiome restoration.

Some researchers believe IBS is caused by changes in the nerves that control sensation or muscle contractions in the bowel. Others believe the central nervous system may affect the colon. Women are two to three times as likely as men to have IBS so hormonal changes may also play a role. Many women find that signs and symptoms are worse during or around their menstrual periods. Many factors can affect the severity of symptoms such as psychological factors, your circumstances even attitude of relatives and friends.

Controlling diet is extremely important for IBS suffers. Many people find that their signs and symptoms may worsen when they eat certain foods i.e. chocolate, milk and alcohol. Stress will also exacerbate IBS and sometimes other illnesses such as an acute gastroenteritis can trigger IBS.

A complementary approach to IBS will focus on prevention. Staying away from or resolving some of the triggers that cause IBS can in many circumstances remedy the problem. Reduce stress through counselling or some form of relaxation such as Mindfulness, Medical Acupuncture, Breathing Exercises, C.B.T, Gut Health and Micro biome Restoration, Lifestyle Medicine and Physiological Regulating Medicine(P.R.M) can be used safely to treat not only digestive disorders including the inflammatory conditions.

Scientists link the absence of certain gut bacteria in patients with depression - an important finding

2/10/2019

Researchers from VIB – Ku Leuven Centre of Microbiology, Belgium by analysing the health data of a large group they have identified the bacteria which may play a role in depression.

The findings appeared in the journal Nature Microbiology in which they named the bacteria producing substances which interacted with the nervous system. These bacteria are known as neuroactive and were identified as genera coprococcus and dialister a remarkable finding.

The scientist found these bacteria were absent from the gut of the patients suffering from depression including the patients who were being actively treated and were on anti-depression medication.

Also in the gut of the people with depression, they found a bacteria usually found in the gut of people suffering from Crohn’s disease (Inflammatory Bowel Disease ) pointing towards may be an inflammatory connection?

That’s why Dr Bhatti believes in the importance of a healthy gut and a healthy Microbiome for our physical as well as mental wellbeing. Thats why he believes those people who are suffering from depression or any other illness their gut health and gut microbiome status should always be evaluated and corrected if possible. In his complementary clinic Dr Bhatti has been treating Gut Health and Dysbiosis ( imbalance between good and bad bacteria ) since 1989 .

In Dr Bhatti’s clinic he uses a multi pronged approach in treating many conditions with evidence based therapies such as Gut Health and Microbiome Restoration, Physiological Regulating Medicine (P.R.M ), Nutritional and Nutraceutical therapies, Lifestyle Medicine, Natural Hormonal Balancing, Glandular support, Soft tissue and joint support, Complex Homeopathy, Herbals, and Needle free Medical Acupuncture, Therapeautic Mindfulness and CBT techniques to achieve excellent results.
