Healthy hair - nutrition and dermaceuticals can play a vital role

According to the American Academy of Dermatology here are a few tips to keep your hair healthy:
  • If you have oily hair you should wash it more frequently
  • Chemically treated or dyed hair should be washed less often
  • As you grow old your scalp produces less oil, hence you should wash it less frequently
  • If you suffer from flaky scalp it may be dandruff or some other condition such as psoriasis if you are not sure you should get it checked.
  • Use shampoo on the scalp area instead of whole length of hair
  • Use a 2 in 1 conditioner for convenience or use a conditioner after every shampoo
  • Apply conditioner on the tips of the hair
  • Choose a shampoo and conditioner formulated for your type of hair
  • Before you go swimming you should wet and condition your hair or wear a swimming cap
  • You can get a special swimmers shampoo and conditioner to replace lost moisture.
  • Balanced nutrition plays a vital role for healthy hair.

Would you like a personlised weight loss health plan tailored just for you?

Dr. Bhatti provides an individualised tailored diet service at the Holistic Health & Stress Clinic. When designing these diets, Dr. Bhatti looks at the individual holistically including their family history, their constitution, lifestyle, and any health conditions or medications that they may be taking. He takes these basic but essential approaches to weight management: Nutritional education, Gut Health and Microbiome Restoration, Low Dose Medicine(L.D.M) , nutritional manipulation and nutritional supplementation to achieve excellent results.

In our clinic we do not believe in starvation or deprivation of nutrition. We believe in sensible, healthy, guilt free and long term weight loss.

His first advice for new patients before embarking on an individualised diet is a visit to their General Practitioner to rule out any medical conditions or medications which may be causing weight gain. Too much insulin in your blood, hypoglycemia, anxiety, diabetes or glandular problems can all cause weight gain.

Recent studies show that people suffering from candida, leaky gut syndrome, stress, depression, certain medications, lack of good quality sleep, allergies, food intolerance, and some chronic conditions can also put on weight due to cravings, emotional binging, and sugar addiction.

Weight gain can also be hereditary, as the discovery of the obesity gene has indicated and it is also important to rule out if fluid retention is one of the causes for your weight gain.

Read more on our Weight Loss Specialised Diet program.

To discuss this weight loss treatment and other therapies offered at our clinic, contact Dr. Bhatti at (087) 1915051 or email health@drbhatti.ie.   During your first office visit, Dr. Bhatti may ask you at length about your health-condition, lifestyle and behaviour.  Please consult your GP before starting new treatment.

Note: Your first consultation is  free.   We have special packages tailor-made to suit you and your finances. Please ask for our special offers.

Candida infection can lead to leaky gut syndrome

20/9/2018

Candida is a yeast normally found in certain parts of our body such as mouth, intestines, and vagina. Recently scientists have discovered it living normally without causing problems in our eyes. If our immune system is working normally Candida does not cause us any problems on the contrary it helps with our digestion and nutrition and vitamin absorption. It is only if it starts to over grow and turn into a fungal infection then it can start developing the symptoms such as itch, redness, burning sensation, discharge and painful urination.

Both women and men suffer from this condition but symptoms are easier to identify in women rather than men. Hence it may stay obscure in men for a longer time. It may usually starts after a course of antibiotics or sometimes other medications such steroids or chemotherapy.

About 75 percent of women will suffer from candidiasis at least once in their lifetime. Only in very rare cases this condition may become invasive and may cause serious complications.

It is one of the most common fungal infections found in humans. Candida is dimorphic it changes from yeast to fungus and produces finger like structures called Hyphae which can burrow through the wall of the intestine and penetrate through causing a phenomena called Leaky gut syndrome.

There are many causes of Candidiasis including:
Bad nutrition, Stress, Certain medications(Antibiotics), Diabetes, Weakened immune system, Certain diseases, HIV, Aids, Irritable bowel syndrome etc.

Candida Symptoms:
Allergies; Food Intolerance; Chronic fatigue; White coated tongue; Mouth ulcers; Digestive issues (bloating, constipation, diarrhoea); Acid reflux; Frequent urinary tract infections and Thrush with discharge; Itch and redness; Recurring sinus infections and post nasal drip leading to cough; Weight Gain; fluid retention; Feeling Sad; Irritability; Lack of sleep; Morning fatigue with muscular stiffness; Skin, scalp and nail fungal infections; Athletes Foot; Joint pain in rare cases; Brain Fog; Craving for sweets and carbs (bread and biscuits); Frequently found in Diabetics; Inflammation etc.

How wrinkles on your forehead can predict your heart health, new study reveals

20/9/2018

A new French study suggests that people who have deeper forehead wrinkles than it is typical for their age may have a higher risk of dying from heart disease, researchers found.
They also found the people with the deepest wrinkles on their brows had nearly 10 times the death risk from heart problems as compared to those with no wrinkles or normal wrinkles for their age even after adjusting for other risk factors. But the study did not prove that forehead wrinkles causes heart risk to rise while some heart experts remained sceptical.

The French team assessed 3,200 working adults and followed them for 20 years between the ages of 32 – 62 years.

The other risk factor included in the analysis were age, gender, education, smoking, blood pressure, heart rate, diabetes and cholesterol levels.

The researchers presented their findings at the European Society of Cardiology annual meeting in Munich Germany recently.

Recently small furry robots used in a day care center in London with anxious dementia patients had a very soothing effect. The response was very encouraging especially in those patients who had difficulty communicating with staff directly.

These little furry robots are playing a vital role in delivering dementia care. Staff had extremely positive feedback with this intervention.
Artificial Intelligence Robotic pets became a bridge between the staff and the dementia patients who would not have communicated with them normally. The presence of this furry animal lookalike also had a very positive effect in soothing their stress and anxiety significantly.
The results of this observation also sheds some light on the positive power and influence of pets and animals on human health and well being.
