What is causing my phelgm/mucus?

24/8/2018

Mucus is normal and forms a lining inside our lungs in a healthy person and helps us keeping our lungs from drying out and it also forms a barrier against bacteria and viruses.
All healthy bodies require mucus in lungs and other parts of our bodies but too much of it can lead to uncomfortable symptoms.
Here are only some of the causes of phlegm / extra mucus.
1. Allergies (Hay fever, Asthma, Food Allergies etc )
2. Colds / Flu’s
3. Tobacco ( smoke )
4. Lung disease e.g. infections such as pneumonia
5. Lung Cancer
6. Hiatus Hernia
7. Acid Reflux
8. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
9. Cystic Fibrosis etc etc...
Always consult your Doctor to rule out any serious illness. Once the cause is identified, complementary therapies can help a lot. Dr Bhatti has been treating allergies / intolerances for the last 30 years.

Natural Pain Relief Program

22/8/2018

After many years of research and practice, Dr Bhatti has combined a range of highly effective techniques into a specific program for reducing pain and improving general health and well-being. The treatment, currently on offer at his clinic, has been extremely successful with a number of conditions including muscular tension; hip, shoulder, neck, and back pain; osteo-arthritis and rheumatism; sinus problems; soft tissue injuries; correcting posture; chronic or repetitive strain injury; sports injuries; and it can even improve some clients' balance and co-ordination.
EMOTIONAL PAIN
The therapy works on the whole body, not just the area of complaint, and many clients who have been through the full program have experienced a general feeling of wellness throughout their whole body. The Natural Pain Relief Program has had very good results with clients suffering from stress related disorders such as headaches, fatigue, mild exhaustive depression/melancholy, panic attacks, adrenal exhaustion, and pre-menstrual tension.
The natural pain relief program uses a range of techniques such as mindfulness and CBT in conjunction with a program of lifestyle changes, low dose medicine(L.D.M), gut health restoration, nutritional supplementation, and any pain associated with stress, anxiety, and depression can be relieved. Other symptoms such as fatigue, lethargy, and lack of concentration can also be helped. The techniques have the potential to improve lymphatic drainage, circulation, nutritional absorption and assimilation. The program includes a full case history where dietary considerations are addressed along with gut health evaluation, stress reduction techniques suggested, and a course of no-needle acupuncture and medical trigger point therapy is recommended.
Laser acupuncture and trigger point therapy are extremely popular bodywork therapies for relieving tension in the muscles, reducing muscle irritability, and improving nutritional absorption, especially to the muscle, soft tissue, tendons, and ligaments. These techniques are central elements of the natural pain relief program because they have tremendous potential to help increase the mobility of joints and also help reduce stiffness and pain.

Marital disharmony can harm your gut health (New findings)

21/8/2018

Recent research suggests that upheaval in martial and other relationships can give rise to a whole host of gut related symptoms, increasing the risk of leaky gut syndrome especially if you have a history of anxiety or depression.

Most sensitive topics in a martial relationship are money, infidelity and In laws effects of which can have a devastating effect on mind, body and overall health of a person.

Normally the healthy lining of our gut forms a natural barrier and prevents bad bugs from reaching the inside lining of our intestines. But when this lining becomes weak and some cracks and holes appear then some bad bugs like fungi (Candida) and other pathogens including some food waste particles can get into the bloodstream and may lead to a reaction which in turn can cause an inflammation leading to an overall change in our very sensitive gut echo system (Microbiome), giving rise to a condition known as Leaky Gut Syndrome, which has been linked to conditions such as:

1. Anxiety / Depression
2. Obesity
3. Metabolic syndrome
4. Mental Health
5. And may be even cancer?

Always consult your Doctor first to rule out any serious illness. Complementary therapies like Gut Health Restoration can help. Dr Bhatti has been treating Candidiasis and Leaky Gut Syndrome for more than 30 years.

What is causing my diarrhoea?

20/8/2018

Diarrhoea is when you are suffering from loose watery bowel movements, generally it might last for a few hours to a few days, but if it lasts longer it can indicate something more serious, and it is time to seek medical advice and you should always consult your G.P if diarrhoea persists more then 24 -48 hours and is frequent and associated with other signs and symptoms such as :

1. Loose watery motions
2. Abdominal pain with cramps
3. Bloating and gas
4. Bloody diarrhoea
5. Urgency
6. Nausea and Vomiting
7. Fever
8. Can cause dehydration
9. Can cause general weakness due to electrolyte imbalance etc

If you have any of the above symptoms it is time to seek medical attention immediately, children and elderly can become easily dehydrated leading to serious complications.

Here are some of the causes of diarrhoea:
  • Viruses like Cytomegalovirus, Norwalk virus, Rotavirus are common causes of diarrhoea.
  • Parasites such as cryptosporidium and giardia lamblia are common causes of diarrhoea and other symptoms.
  • Stress / Anxiety especially before exams, interviews, public speaking etc.
  • Food Allergies/ Food Intolerances such as lactose, wheat, fructose and some artificial sweeteners.
  • Some medications such as Antibiotics which can destroy good bacteria and causes an imbalance between good and bad bacteria resulting in Dysbiosis, Candida ( fungal infection ) in our intestines, feet, nails etc..
  • Some antacids containing magnesium can also cause diarrhoea along with some cancer therapy.
  • Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Coeliac disease and Irritable bowel syndrome are some of the medical conditions responsible for diarrhoea.
  • Sometimes after abdominal surgery diarrhoea can be one of the symptoms.
  • If you have travelled outside of Ireland especially to some of the under developed countries. Ask your Doctor for advice if you are going to travel e.g. vaccinations, precautions etc.

To meet with Dr Bhatti to discuss this condition and treatments available at our clinic, contact us on (087) 1915051 or email health@drbhatti.ie.  During your first clinic visit, Dr. Bhatti may ask you at length about your health-conditions and lifestyle. Please consult your GP before starting new treatment.  Note: Your first consultation is  free. We have special packages tailor-made to suit you and your finances. Please ask for our special offers.

Bloating - Causes and Answers

13/8/2018

Bloating is when your tummy is puffy, feels stretched and uncomfortable due to temporary abdominal distension.

Causes:
Some Common causes include overeating, eating too fast, swallowing food too quickly, talking while eating and swallowing air, certain foods which can cause gas (such as beans, lentils, cabbage, cauliflower),junk food, and drinking too many fizzy drinks etc etc.

Certain medical conditions can also give rise to this symptom such as Gastritis, Food poisoning, Candida, Leaky Gut Syndrome, Celiac disease, IBS, Diverticular disease, Food intolerance, Crohn’s disease, PMS or Menopause, certain cancers such as ovarian and colon. If you have any chest pain, palpitations, fever, shortness of breath, dizziness, weakness, pain in the abdominal area, bloody or dark stools, vomiting blood, eyes and skin becomes yellow and you have lost a lot of weight then please consult your GP first as he or she might prescribe an appropriate medication, tests or refer you to a specialist to rule out something sinister.

Treatments:
If a serious illness has been ruled out by your G.P, then some lifestyle changes might help depending on the cause. It is advisable to slow down and try and eat in a relaxing atmosphere without watching television, reading or talking. It is also a good idea to try and identify the food which might be responsible for your bloating so that you can try and eliminate it. You should chew your food properly and try and eat three balanced meals a day, drink plenty of fluids for hydration and avoid fizzy drinks.

Some complementary therapies can also be very beneficial such as nutritional manipulation, mindfulness and some supplements and herbs. Medical acupuncture has been found to be very effective as is natural restoration of gut health if you are suffering from Candida, leaky gut or food intolerance such as wheat and lactose which can produce a reaction resulting in gas and trapped wind.

Dr Bhatti has been treating these conditions successfully with complementary medical care since the late eighties . Read more about our Gut Health Restoration Clinic and the effective treatment of many digestive disorders.

Some common triggers for migraine

10/8/2018

Migraine occurs three times more in women than in men. There is evidence of a genetic element and can run in the families. Migraines more often occur in people with epilepsy, strokes, asthma, anxiety, stress and neurological disorders. Migraines occur equally in children but become more common in girls after puberty. In children migraine may show up as stomach pains (stomach migraine), nausea, vertigo, unsteady balance and behavioural changes.

Warning symptoms such as aura may occur before the headache e.g. flashing lights and blind spots which can be very disabling and the pain can last from hours to days. It can be a pulsating or throbbing pain with nausea and vomiting, sensitivity to light and sounds, blurred vision, tingling sensation on the side of the face, dizziness, fatigue and sometimes with the loss of power in the extremities.

If you have any of these symptoms or similar symptoms, you should always consult your G.P as soon as possible to rule out and treat any serious conditions.

Here are some of the common triggers:
  • Flashing lights
  • Stress/anxiety
  • Hormonal changes
  • Frequent yawning
  • Neck stiffness
  • Mood changes from sadness to euphoric
  • Lack of sleep
  • Lack of food and low blood sugar levels
  • Dehydration (increased thirst)
  • Frequency of urination
  • Constipation
  • Food binges
  • Foods such as MSG, chocolate, soya sauce, cheese, processed foods especially processed meats
  • Fermented foods
  • Caffeine can be both help or a hinderance
  • Good to keep a journal to keep a track of your triggers

We have recently launched a new and evidence based treatment to our clinic called Physiological Regulating Medicine (PRM)

In our clinic we use a multi prong approach in treating this and many other conditions. We also use other evidence based therapies such as low dose medicine (LDM), gut health and microbiome restoration, nutritional and nutraceutical therapies, lifestyle medicine, complex homeopathy, herbals, and needle free medical acupuncture to achieve excellent results.
