  3. Pain due to lifestyle. Sitting for long periods at a time, in front of a computer or watching television can often result in neck and back discomfort or pain.
  4. Repetitive strain injury can be from the type of work you do usually on the wrist or thumb, working in a factory or an assembly line, ill fitting or wearing the wrong type of foot wear. Flip flops can cause plantar fasciitis. Picking up your baby out of a cot or a buggy
  5. Smart phones: In recent years pain in the neck and thumb has become quite common due to checking and answering your messages especially in young people.
  6. A big thick wallet in your back pocket can result in pain your hip and buttock and may result in sciatica.

Dr Bhatti's Gut Health & Microbiome Restoration Therapy for general well being and weight management

13/5/2019

Dr Bhatti runs a complementary clinic specialising in Gut Health & Restoration. He has been practicing Natural Gut Health Restoration for more than 25 years with excellent results. Poor gut health can affect you physically as well as mentally and can lead to many illnesses. Healing of the gut and stomach lining along with restoration of microbiome can lead to great improvement of general health, vitality and immunity.

Dr Bhatti identifies the most common causes of obesity: poor diet, lack of exercise, bad eating habits, stress and strains of lifestyle, working conditions, medical conditions, certain medications and sometimes just loving food too much.

He suggests three basic approaches to weight management with gut health and microbiome restoration, nutritional manipulation, nutritional supplementation, and Physiological Regulating Medicine(P.R.M) which is an evidence based natural therapy safe to use for adults as well as children with excellent results

At the Gut Health & Restoration Clinic we treat every person as a unique individual. No two people are alike or have the same problems or complaints, so we design a individualistic and unique nutritional and treatment plan to suit each and every person according to their particular needs.

The first advice Dr Bhatti offers new patients before embarking on a diet or an overall plan is a visit to their General Practitioner for any medical advice and to rule out any serious medical condition.

“Too much insulin in your blood, hypoglycaemia, anxiety, diabetes or glandular problems can all cause weight gain” he said. “Recent studies show that people suffering from candida, dysbiosis, leaky gut syndrome, stress, anxiety, depression, lack of good quality sleep, allergies, and some chronic conditions can also put on weight due to cravings. Weight gain can also be hereditary, as the discovery of the obesity gene has indicated” he added.

Dr. Bhatti's approach to treating gut health related problems is through a combination of evidence based therapies such as Nutritional Healing, Needle free Acupuncture, Hormonal balancing and other Complementary Therapies such as Lifestyle Medicine, and natural Low Dose Medicine with excellent results.

Diverticulosis - about 20 percent of us may suffer from it (Complementary therapies can help)

8/5/2019

Diverticulosis is a condition describing bulging pouches usually found in the digestive tract 20 out of every hundred people might suffer from it. Doctors do not know what actually causes it. These small pouches often become inflamed or infected causing severe abdominal pain, fever, nausea and a change in bowel habits. This is called diverticulitis.

The pain associated with it can vary but is generally in the lower left side of your abdomen and it can be extremely severe and sometimes can come on suddenly. Other people may experience a mild pain that becomes worse over several days and fluctuates in intensity. Other symptoms range from bleeding from the rectum, frequent urination, bloating and vomiting.

Diverticulosis is caused when weak places in the colon give way under pressure causing pouches to protrude through the colon wall. Factors that may increase the pressure of your colon wall include ageing or bad eating habits with years of eating refined carbohydrates such as white sugar, white flour and processed foods. Some scientists think prolonged use of aspirin or anti inflammatory tablets might be the cause.

As we age the muscular wall of our colon often thickens causing a narrowing of the passageway. This increases pressure and makes it more difficult for waste to move through the colon. It is rare for people in countries where they eat high fibre diets to develop diverticulitis. In some countries where very refined foods are consumed the condition is becoming increasingly common sometimes even in the younger population especially due to absence of fresh fruit and vegetables instead consuming a lot of fried and greasy foods.

Complications are rare but they do occur. An infected or inflamed pouch for instance may rupture spilling intestinal waste into the abdominal cavity leading to inflammation of the lining of the abdominal cavity a potentially fatal condition. This condition is a medical emergency and requires immediate attention. Any changes in bowel habits should always be reported to your G.P. as it may require further investigation and to rule out any other serious condition. Depending on the diagnosis you may be referred to a specialist and a dietician.Dr Bhatti believes early intervention is the key.

Dr Bhatti uses a holistic approach including nutrition, family history, stress and lifestyle. If a serious illness has been ruled out then some of the complementary therapies can be very helpful. Changes in lifestyle, Mindful Nutrition, Gut Health and Microbiome Restoration, Laser Acupuncture, Physiological Regulating Medicine(P.R.M), Mindfulness, CBT, and Yoga can help.

To discuss conditions treated and therapies offered at our clinic, contact Dr. Bhatti at (087) 1915051 or email health@drbhatti.ie.   During your first office visit, Dr. Bhatti may ask you at length about your health-condition, lifestyle and behaviour.  Please consult your GP before starting new treatment.

Migraine in children may show up as stomach pains

4/5/2019

Migraine occurs three times more in women than in men. There is evidence of a genetic element and can run in the families. Migraines more often occur in people with epilepsy, strokes, asthma, anxiety, stress and neurological disorders. Migraines occur equally in children but become more common in girls after puberty. In children migraine may show up as stomach pains (stomach migraine), nausea, vertigo, unsteady balance and behavioural changes.

Warning symptoms such as aura may occur before the headache e.g. flashing lights and blind spots which can be very disabling and the pain can last from hours to days. It can be a pulsating or throbbing pain with nausea and vomiting, sensitivity to light and sounds, blurred vision, tingling sensation on the side of the face, dizziness, fatigue and sometimes with the loss of power in the extremities.

If you have any of these symptoms or similar symptoms, you should always consult your G.P as soon as possible to rule out and treat any serious conditions.

Some of the common triggers include:
  • Flashing lights
  • Stress/anxiety
  • Hormonal changes
  • Lack of sleep
  • Lack of food and low blood sugar levels
  • Dehydration
  • Food binges
  • Foods such as M.S.G, chocolate, soya sauce, cheese, processed foods especially processed meats
  • Fermented foods
  • Caffeine can be both a help or a hindrance
It is good to maintain a journal to keep track of your triggers.

In our clinic we use a multi pronged approach in treating many conditions with evidence based therapies such as Low Dose Medicine (L.D.M.), Physiological Regulating Medicine (P.R.M), Gut Health and Microbiome restoration, Nutritional and Nutraceutical therapies, Lifestyle Medicine, Natural Hormonal Balancing, Glandular support, Soft tissue and joint support, Complex Homeopathy, Herbals, and Needle free Medical Acupuncture, Laser Acupuncture, Therapeautic Mindfulness and CBT techniques to achieve excellent results.

Mindful living can improve your physical and emotional health

3/5/2019

Mindfulness is returning your wandering thoughts to what is happening in the present. This therapy has revolutionised the treatment for stress, anxiety, depression and other mental and physical conditions, especially stress related disorders.

It can enhance the feeling of wellbeing by lowering stress; you can use this technique anywhere and anytime. You can return to your awareness by concentrating on your breathing as breathing is always happening in the present moment, you also incorporate your every day routine with mindfulness such as eating, drinking, brushing your teeth, gardening, lunch break, tea break and before going to bed.

It works well for both easy going and very busy people.

Benefits of mindfulness are many but the main ones are:
  • Stress
  • Anxiety & Depression evidence is strongest for Anxiety
  • Depression (mild cases) works well with a combination of medication and mindfulness and evidence shows that mindfulness can help prevent relapses of depression and even that alone is a great reason to practise it.
  • It can help in weight management as it can help reduce stress related over eating and stress related cravings.
  • Metabolic syndrome (risk of obesity, cardiovascular disease and diabetes) this is the scourge of the 20th century, hundreds of thousands of people suffer from this condition all over the world and it is on the increase in our country even in very young people.

In our clinic in Urban well-being in Galway we integrate and marry Mindfulness with other evidence based therapies such as CBT, Micro-immunotherapy, Low Dose Medicine (L.D.M) and Microbiome Restoration to get excellent results.
